In response to COVID concerns, the Whistleblower Summit & Film Festival announces that its 9th anniversary year will be presented virtually from July 28th – August 1st. The Whistleblower Summit & Film Festival is expanding public access to the summit and festival experience nationwide through online film screenings and panel presentations. The Festival will also feature, online workshops, Q&A’s, and a presentation to the 2020 award-winning films. The virtual presentation will be hosted by Film Festival Flix, a streaming platform that partners with film festivals powering a curated virtual experience. Patrons will be able to stream the 2020 official selections on the FilmFestivalFlix.com website or through their TV and mobile apps.
“It was a difficult decision to move the event online since, at its core, the Whistleblower Summit is a community of whistleblowers and mutual support network for advocates. Capitol Hill is the perfect place to do this, which is difficult to replicate anywhere else. We had to come up with an alternative plan so that our audience can still receive the summit experience and festival atmosphere by embracing technological innovation. Film Festival Flix is our solution,” says Michael McCray, Whistleblower Summit & Film Festival Co-founder/Managing Director.
"We've always prided ourselves on providing a new experience at the summit every year, like the first TEDx Salon and then Film Festival dedicated to whistleblowers and the first amendment. With this new format, we can share panel discussions, virtual events and showcase great independent films and filmmakers while considering the needs and safety of our audiences,” says Marcel Reid, Whistleblower Summit & Film Festival Co-founder/Festival Director.
